Numerical Study of Flow around Two Circular Cylinders in Tandem, Side-By-Side and Staggered Arrangements

Simulations are presented for flow around pairs of circular cylinders at a Reynolds number 3900. The is assumed to be two-dimensional and incompressible in nature the simulations performed using RANS (Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes) approach with k-ε model. three different configurations cylinders: A tandem configuration where line joining centre parallel mean direction; side-by-side, perpendicular staggered an angle α direction. Simulation results cylinder separations ranging from 1.125 4 diameters values between 10° 60°. discussed terms lift drag coefficients, Strouhal number, vorticity field regimes observed. also compared previous observations lower numbers investigate dependence phenomena.
